Salaah in the college prayer room

Salaah in the college prayer room

I am a full time college student, which means that I have to pray my salah at the college. The college has only one prayer room, which is divided between the Muslims and the Christians. Because the women cannot offer their salah with the men, they have to pray in the second half of the room which is the Christians area. The Christians have chairs, which have crosses on them throughout the area. My question is.

a) Can the women offer their Salaat in the Christian’s area and will it be accepted?
b) Also can women offer the Jummah salah behind an imam on Friday? Or is it more appropriate to offer the salah at home?

a) Out of necessity there is no harm in offering salah in the Christian area of the prayer room. But, it should be kept in mind that there should be no Christian symbols in front of you while offering salah, e.g. Crucifix/Cross.

b) In the view of the Islamic Law it is permissible for women to offer the Jumaah salah behind an imam on Friday, but it is more appropriate to offer the salah at home, especially in this day and age, due to the fear of fitnah (Harm and mischief)
