The Sunnats of privacy

The Sunnats of privacy

1. To be humorous with one’s wife. (Tirmizi)

2. To have sexual intercourse. (Muslim, Ibn Majah)

3. After having sexual intercourse once, it is preferable to take a bath each time one desires to compulate again, but Wudhu would suffice. Istinjaa (washing of the private parts), however at least be made.

4. Although a single bath taken at the end is sufficient, a bath after each act of intercourse is preferable.

5. It is also preferable not to make any delays in taking the compulsory bath.

6. If the bath is delayed, Wudhu should at least be made.

7. If that is felt cumbersome too, one should not desist from washing the private parts.

8. If that is not done either, Tayammum can also be made as this also proven Ahadeeth. To sleep without also doing Tayammum is also permissible.

Note: It can be understood from the above that the laws of Islam are not strict and rigid but lax and easy to follow.

Warning: The above rulings will only apply when the time of the subsequent Prayer has not yet approached, or it has, but there is sufficient time to perform it. If for instance, the act was done at night, delay will only be allowed until dawn and not after that.

1. The perspiration of men and women secreted in the course of intercourse or after it is pure. Thus the clothes worn will not become impure, due to it, and invalidate the prayer. However, Semen is definitely impure and must be removed by washing away with water. (Mua’tta)

2. The clothes worn during intercourse will not become impure due to the act. Only the area soiled by Semen (or other genital secretions) will be regarded impure. Once washed thoroughly, that too will become pure, albeit being wet. (Abu Dawood)

3. To remove the hair of the armpits and below the navel. The hair from these areas should be removed regularly. If 40 days elapse and the hair were still not removed, the person will be sinful.
