Islaam is a fair and just religion

Hazarat Ali’s (R.A.) had lost a sword during his time as a Khaleefah. A few days later he found a Jew selling it. Hazarat Ali (R.A.) took the Jew to a Muslim court. When Hazarat Ali (R.A.) entered the court, Shurayh, the Muslim judge asked Hazarat Ali (R.A.) to sit next to him as he thought it was a social visit. On finding out the real reason for Hazarat Ali’s (R.A.) visit, Shurayh told him to stand opposite him along with the Jew.

β€œHave you any evidence that the sword is yours?” questioned Shurayh. β€œ Yes my two sons Hasan and Husayn,” replied Hazarat Ali (R.A.). β€œ Your sons will not be accepted as witnesses, according to the laws of Sharee’ah as they will be supporting the father,” said Shurayh and asked for more evidence. β€œ My slave will confirm that what I said is true,” said Hazarat Ali (R.A.) β€œ Why will the slave not confirm your claim when you are the master that sustains him?” replied the judge. In the end the judge ruled that the sword belongs to the Jew. When everybody was leaving the court the Jew read the β€˜Kalima’ and accepted Islaam.

Later the Jew, now a Muslim told everyone left in the court the reason why he stole the sword. He said, β€œ I have heard that in Islaam everybody has equal rights and justice is always done but I wanted to see for myself if it was really true, so I stole the sword.”

Moral: Islaam is a fair and just religion. Everyone has equal rights and is equal to each other. No one is better than anyone else, as we are all servants of Allah Ta’alaa. If Muslims follow the great examples left by the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and the Sahaaba (R.A.) then most of our problems will be solved.
