Do you owe £1.50 (Sadqa Tul Fitr)

 

Sadqa Tul Fitr

Sadqa Tul Fitr is an obligation upon every Muslim Male and Female upon whom Zakat is compulsory (Wajib), whether or not a year has passed.

Points regarding Sadqa Tul Fitr

  1. It is Sunnah that the Sadqa Tul Fitr is paid before performing the Eid Salah.
  2. It can also be paid before the Eid day.
  3. If a person fails to pay it before its proper time, he/she should pay as soon as possible, whereby the obligation will stand discharged.
  4. It is compulsory upon each adult male and female separately, and each adult is individually responsible to pay it.
  5. The adults are responsible to pay the Sadqa tul Fitr on behalf of their minor children (immature).
  6. A father is not responsible to pay Sadqa tul Fitr on behalf of his adult (mature) children, wife or vice versa. (However he may do so on his own behalf)
  7. Sadqa Tul Fitr should be paid only to a person who is entitled to receive Zakat.
