Don’t be a fool on April Fool’s Day

Don’t be a fool on April Fool’s Day

Are Muslim’s allowed to participate in April Fool’s Day activities?

To participate in April Fool’ day is not permissible and is a combination of major sins, it is stated in the Qur’an:

“Allah’s curse is upon the liars.”

(Surah 3 Verse 61)
  1. On April Fool’s Day the sin of LIEING is assumed permissible, this thought could lead one committing an act of disbelief and straying put of the fold of Islam.
  2. The sin of treachery (breach of trust) a major sin is also committed. The Prophet (peace be upon him) has stated in a hadeeth:

“A BELIEVER CANNOT BE A TRUE BELIEVER UNTIL HE DEPARTS WITH LIEING WHILST MOCKING AND OBSTAIN FROM ARGUMENTS DESPITE ONE’S RIGHTEOUSNESS.”

(Kanz-ul-A’maal Hadeeth No. 8229)

3. Another major sin deception is usually part of April Fool’s day activities. This sin has also proved to be a major sin. It is narrated in a hadeeth:

“WHOEVER SO DECEIVES US IS NOT FROM US.”

(Mishkaat Page 305)

4. Activities on this day also encompasses causing unnecessary harm to others, Allah Ta’ala has said in the Qur’an:

“AND THOSE WHO ANNOY THE BELIEVING MEN AND WOMEN UNDISERVIDLY, THEY BEAR (ON THEMSELVES) THE CRIME OF SLANDER AND PLAIN SIN.”

(Surah Ahzaab Verse 58)

5. To participate in the activities of the April Fool’s day is a sign of one being lead astray and the imitation of other sects. The Prophet (peace be upon him) has said in a hadeeth:

“WHOEVER IMITATES A NATION, HE IS SURELY FROM THEM.”

(Abu Daud, Book of Clothing)

So the participating in the activities of APRIL FOOL’S DAY is a combination of major sins and strictly condemned in Islam.
