Istikhaarah

 

I have been performing Istikhaarah for the last few days, but so far, had no indication whatsoever. Can you please tell me what Istikhaarah is and whether or not an indication is given through a dream?

Istikhaarah means to seek goodness from Allah and to seek divine favour or a hint regarding whether or not to do an important work.

On waking up in the morning one should act upon what he / she finds set in the heart. If the heart is not set on anything after the first night, the Istikhaarah should be done for three, five or seven nights continuously. If it is done in the proper manner, some firm thought will set upon the heart by the seventh day, and it is better to act according to it. Indication via a dream is not essential in Istikhaarah.
