The Importance of Congregation

 

The Imaam of the Masjid in our locality practices innovation. After the Fardh Salaat he recites loudly a variety of lengthy duas, remembrance of Allah etc. He participates in moulood functions, 7 and 40 day Qur’an completion for the deceased, urs and many other customs of innovation. It is better for me to perform Salaat at home, or should I perform Salaat behind this innovation.

You should not perform Farz Salaat at home. Performing the five farz Salaat in congregation at the Mosque is incumbent. Even if the Imaam is a innovator or a faasiq as well as these bidati’s generally are, you should go to the masjid and perform your Salaat in congregation. After the Farz Salaat do not join in the innovation practises the Imaam engages in. Leave the Musjid and perform your Sunnat and Nafil Salaat at home.
