The Sunnats to be observed by the guest

The Sunnats to be observed by the guest

1. It is appreciable to notify the host of one’s arrival beforehand.

2. One should try not to become a source of distraction for the host. To ensure this, it would be better to find out the preferred times of his solitude and engagement. If one does not reach there at such undesirable times, one should wait rather than disturb the host.

3. It is necessary to introduce yourself briefly if new to the host.

4. If, for any reason, you do not wish to have the subsequent meal, (because you are fasting, or you have already had it, etc.) it is important that you inform the host well in time.

5. If one is not accustomed to eating hot food, or adheres to any other dietary laws, it is necessary that he informs the host well in hand. It would be unseemly to inform him after the food has been cooked and prepared.

6. One should not make any requests of any particular dish or item of food. Although the food may be simple and inexpensive but may not be procurable for some reason and it may unnecessary cause the host embarrassment.

7. One should not interfere in the arrangements that should be managed by the host.

8. The guest should not invite anyone to a meal at the house, as he has no right to do so.
