To find fault with food

 

Is it any fault if one finds fault with cooked food? Can one admonish the cook?

Food is Allah’s great bounty, one should not find fault with it. If it is up to one’s taste, one may partake of it, otherwise may leave it. It is stated in a noble hadith: “The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) would never find fault with food.” He would eat the food which he desired and leave that which he did not relish”. (Mishkat) However, there is no fault in reproving the cook if he has not cooked carefully or there is some sort of deficiency in the taste of the food so that he may improve and take care in future, but it should be done in such a way that it does not imply any contempt or faultfinding in respect of the food.
